ABC Office Moving SystemsMy dad was retiring from his 50 year career last week and he offered to let me take his beautiful, antique office furniture. I was incredibly excited but also super nervous because the furniture is not only antique, but it is very valuable (both sentimentally and $$) and VERY heavy. I only had 5 items – a MASSIVE desk, 2 client chairs, a console table and a painting.
I made multiple online bids to see how I could arrange a highly rated and reputable company to move these pieces to my house (about 5 miles away from the office). I cared most that the items were properly cared for during transit because they are invaluable to me. I also needed an available time slot within a week of the beginning of my search!
The whole ordeal was really stressing me out because the quote was pretty pricey (about $500 plus tip for the whole thing) but I also really wanted someone who knows what they’re doing. I also don’t have anything to compare it to so maybe that is a normal price.
I bit the bullet, reserved them, and they completely took it from there. We needed to arrange a couple things through the office manager (certificate of insurance and logistics of getting in the building) and they were quick to respond and very helpful. They called multiple times to confirm and remind, which helped keep my nerves down about the day itself.
On moving day (yesterday), we met them at the office to ensure a smooth move. The two movers (sorry, I don’t remember their names and the paperwork is at home!!) were INCREDIBLY polite, kind, careful and efficient. They very tenderly wrapped all of the furniture with quilts, ensuring the feet were also well wrapped. We were able to get everything out of the office within about 30 minutes. I should also mention, they were well within their provided arrival window and gave me an hour of notice so we had time to get there!
We live on the 2nd floor of a duplex so we knew it would be a pain for them to have to haul this incredibly heavy desk up the stairs. They had to take our front door off the hinges to get this thing through the door (barely made it!) and maneuvered this behemoth through our slanted doorways and tight corners without missing a beat. They also offered to help us rearrange some of the items (moving the rug from under the desk, etc) to make sure it was to our liking.
Again, what mattered most to me was the careful relocation of these priceless items. These two lovely gentlemen did just that and I couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you ABC movers!! I know if I have to move again, I will definitely be contacting ABC first.
